Xu Xiaodong Leads a Delegation to CEEC for China-Central and Eastern Europe Energy Cooperation Planning Research

Commissioned by China National Energy Administration, on September 17 to 28, Mr. Xu Xiaodong, vice president of China Electric Power Planning and Engineering Institute, led a delegation to Hungary. Lithuania and Latvia to conduct in-depth exchanges with relevant energy administrative departments and authorities, energy companies and industry associations on energy sector status, planning and cooperation intentions of the relevant countries, and to exchange ideas on main work and future plan of China-Central and Eastern Europe Energy Projects Dialogue and Cooperation Center. 

In Hungary, the delegation visited the Ministry of Innovation and Technology of Hungary. Barbara Botos, the deputy minister of state, received the delegation. She introduced the energy administration reform of the Hungarian government and the recent energy development and policy in Hungary. Xu Xiaodong proposed that both sides have common goals in energy transition, and EPPEI will actively promote bilateral cooperation in energy planning and technology exchange. The delegation also exchanged views with the Hungarian Energy and Public Utility Regulatory Authority on energy management systems, energy project cooperation and energy statistics.

In Lithuania, the delegation visited the Lithuanian Ministry of Energy, and the minister's adviser, Rytis K?velaitis, along with the heads of the Department of International Cooperation, the Department of Electricity, the Department of Heating and Energy Efficiency, and the Department of Renewable Energy received the delegation and provided a detailed introduction to Lithuania's latest energy development strategy and future goals in the areas of electricity, oil and gas, heating and renewable energy. Xu Xiaodong expressed appreciation for Lithuania's achievements in energy security, clean and low carbon, technological innovation and marketization. The two sides also exchanged ideas on future cooperation in biomass heating, wind power, energy efficiency improvement, energy technology research and development and project management. The delegation also visited the Lithuanian Wind Energy Association and the Biomass Energy Association to gain an in-depth understanding of Lithuania's clean energy market and future cooperation opportunities, and visited the Kaunas Biomass Cogeneration Demonstration Project.

In Latvia, the delegation visited the Latvian Ministry of Economics. Andis Jēkabsons, adviser for economics to the President, met with the delegation and detailed the overall national energy and climate change strategy being developed in Latvia. Xu Xiaodong Introduced China's extensive experience in equipment manufacturing and engineering construction in the field of renewable energy power generation, which can meet Latvia's demand for sustainable economic renewable energy. The two sides can strengthen equipment manufacturing, energy research and project investment in the future. Cooperation. The delegation also visited the Latverergo Power Company, the Latvian Renewable Energy Federation, and Riga University of Technology, and conducted research on the electricity market and technology research and development in Latvia.

During the China-Central and Eastern Europe Energy Expo and Forum held in Bucharest, Romania, in November 2017, the Chinese Secretariat of the China-Central and Eastern European Countries Energy Project Dialogue and Cooperation Center was formally established in EPPEI. The center's work includes three parts. First is to promote multi-level exchanges and dialogues between China and Central and Eastern European countries. Second is to study and promote the implementation of energy cooperation planning between China and Central and Eastern Europe countries. Third is to identify some bilateral demonstration project through exchange dialogue and planning research. In June this year, the first technical meeting was successfully held in Beijing. According to the work plan, the second and third technical meetings will be held in the future. This visit is the first investigation visit of energy cooperation planning research work.
